Welcome to Nirwood

The SME Instrument (Horizon 2020 Program) Project

NIRWOOD is a partially EU financed SME Instrument (Horizon 2020 Program) Project dedicated to the development of a NIR (Near-Infrared) Spectrometer able to distinguish wood species and its geographical origin.

What is Horizon 2020 - Nirwood Project

Our ambitious project will provide to the timber market (producers, traders, manufacturers, transformers and environmental authorities) with a reliable, precise, quick and affordable tool to ensure that their wood products and quality are consistent with those they expected, avoiding frauds and illegalities.

Our device will statistically compare new NIR spectra with a huge spectral data base sited in the Cloud to give a quick answer to the user about botanical wood species and its country of origin. It will contribute to facilitate industrials and traders to comply with EUTR (European timber trade regulation).

This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 767007Horizon 2020 Programmes - Nirwood Project
